Case Study
Story
A lot of the work the Pharmacy Technicians are doing in your practice goes on behind the scenes, however they are a crucial link in ensuring your medicines are safe for you.
For example, many medicines need to be monitored to ensure they are 1. Working for you and 2. Not causing you harm. Our Pharmacy Technicians run lots of reports to check this monitoring is happening and will order appropriate tests to ensure you are kept safe.
Goals
The aim of getting monitoring done is to ensure the medicines are working and that they are not causing harm. This can help to inform the GP or Pharmacist when they review your medicines to help them find the best medicines for you. This can also help you to make shared decisions about your medicines with your GP or Pharmacist. This monitoring can also highlight issues with medicines which means these can be addressed proactively.
Solutions
When the Pharmacy Technicians look at the monitoring you need, they will look at all your health conditions and all your medicines and ensure everything is requested in one go. This can avoid you needing to have multiple blood tests. Pharmacy Technicians will normally send you a message to ask you to book to get the relevant blood tests, once they have requested these for you on the hospital blood taking system.
Outcomes
By having the blood tests in a timely way, you can be assured your medicines are working well for you. This can also ensure any issues are picked up quickly and can then be managed appropriately by the practice team.
